About Wenatchee and East Wenatchee

The beautiful confluence of the Wenatchee and Columbia Rivers form the Wenatchee Valley. Located in this valley are the sister cities of Wenatchee and East Wenatchee. Plateaus ripe with seasonal crops border East Wenatchee while breathtaking natural rock formations and lush canyons border Wenatchee, to the west. Tree fruit orchards abound on both sides of the river providing a plentiful bounty of produce for residents and visitors to enjoy. The Wenatchee Valley boasts 300 days of sunshine a year and four distinct seasons with January's average temperature high/low being 33/21 and July's average temperature high/low being 86/59. This yields a wide array of outdoor recreational activities year-round: skiing and snowboarding at our nationally-acclaimed ski resort, Mission Ridge, boating in the beautiful Columbia River, hiking in the surrounding foothills, and golfing at one many local golf courses. Housing continues to grow in the Valley with options for both home owners and renters. Top-of-the-line medical care is also bountiful with two local hospitals, and five medical care facilities. Quality education is available in both public and private schools. Look for rapid growth on the Wenatchee Waterfront as the City of Wenatchee has confirmed the development of the Wenatchee Regional Event Center-a facility that will become home to a minor-league hockey team and year- round sports and entertainment venues. Wenatchee is the largest city in Central Washington.  The splendor of the valley surrounds us! We have the confluences of the Wenatchee and Columbia Rivers, breathtaking geological formations, a variety of well maintained parks, including the Apple Capital Loop Trail with its 11 miles of paved trails along the Columbia River. Forested land for hiking, snowmobiling, or mountain biking. Mission Ridge Ski Resort is only 12 miles from downtown.  We also have an abundance of fruit grown in our local orchards and vineyards.

    Brief History:

The Wenatchee area was established in 1899.  By 1892 the Great Northern Railway completed its line to Wenatchee.  This resulted in growth and new economy to the valley.  With the creation of the Highline Canal and the Columbia River Irrigation Project in the turn of the twentieth century, the valley was soon to become one of the world's largest apple, pear and cherry producers.
